Founder Background

 

.Ms. Slade is the founder of Slade Land Use, Environmental, and Transportation (L.E.T.) Planning. She has two Bachelor of Arts, a Masters in Regional Planning and a Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has worked as a legal clerk with the  Federal Highway Administration in the Chief Counsel’s Office, Environmental Planner with Arcadis G&M Transportation Consulting Firm, and former Community Planner with the North Carolina Department of Transportation. She is a member of the Transportation Research Board Environmental Justice Committee, which is a division of the National Research Council. The board serves as an independent adviser to the federal government and others on scientific and technical questions of national importance. In addition, she was selected to serve as an Environmental Leadership Program (ELP) Vanderryn Fellow. The ELP Fellowship is given annually to select individuals engaged in the environmental field to enhance their leadership skills. Finally, she is a member of the Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birmingham. She has worked on environmental and land use projects for the planning departments of several different cities. She has extensive experience in transportation planning, from both a governmental and private firm perspective. In this context, she developed Context Sensitive Solutions to complex planning issues and expertise in Community Impact Assessments (CIA) under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969. Ms. Slade is an Adjunct Professor in the Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering Construction Management Graduate Program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham;  Environmental Management Graduate Program at Samford University, and Social Behavior Department at Miles College.
